About
Public School Match was created by an NYC parent who went through the school search the way most families do: a dozen browser tabs, a pile of acronyms, and a spreadsheet that never felt finished. Understanding how admissions actually work, and finding the schools worth a closer look, was far more complicated than it needed to be.
So the research kept going: how each grade's process runs, where the official data really comes from, and what it can and cannot tell you. That work eventually became this site, one place where any NYC parent can understand the process and compare every public school in the city against what matters to their own family.
A few commitments shape everything here:
- The core product is free. Browsing schools, full profiles, and personalized matching cost nothing.
- No pay-to-rank, ever. No school is promoted, sponsored, or editorially favored. Schools rank only by how well they fit the priorities your family sets.
- Honest about the data. Every metric shows its source, its age, and a confidence label. When we do not know something, we say so rather than guess.
If you are starting your own search, the guides walk through each grade's admissions process step by step, and the methodology page explains exactly how matching works. Questions or ideas? Get in touch.
