Design Works High School

Design Works High School, established in Fall 2023 with support from Pratt Institute and Bank Street College, offers a distinctive high school experience focused on design thinking and social justice. Students engage in project-based, collaborative learning to solve complex problems, preparing them for college, creative careers, and leadership in social justice. The school is part of the FutureReadyNYC initiative, emphasizing pathways in technology, design, and urban planning, with opportunities for mentorships, internships, and college coursework through industry and university partnerships. As a new institution, comprehensive graduation and college enrollment rates are not yet available. Regents exam results are mixed, with strong pass rates in Chemistry and Global History, but areas for improvement in Algebra I, Algebra II, and Living Environment. The school maintains a small, inclusive community where student voices are valued. Parents express outstanding satisfaction with teacher support, education, and school leadership. While most students report feeling safe, a higher percentage than the citywide average perceive bullying to occur.
