The Middle School of Media, Law and Fine Arts

The Middle School of Media, Law and Fine Arts (MLFA), also known as East Flatbush Community Research School, is a small Brooklyn middle school serving grades 6-8. It emphasizes a rigorous curriculum with a focus on media, law, and fine arts, offering Regents track courses in subjects like US History, Living Environment, and Algebra. The school provides a rich array of electives, including visual arts, drums, robotics, contemporary dance, and varsity basketball, alongside robust social-emotional support services like morning check-ins, counseling, and a state-of-the-art Makerspace and dance studio. Parents consistently report very high satisfaction with the school, and relationships with families are rated as excellent. While academic proficiency in math is above the citywide median, ELA proficiency is slightly below.
